46th Annual Bruno Engler Memorial Race
The Bruno Engler Memorial is the longest consecutively running annual ski race in Canada. The Race Format is a two-run GS held on the Cascade slope and finishing in front of the Day Lodge. The course will be set by former National Team Coach Bruce Henry, Chief of Course.
Age categories for both men and women are as follows:
35–44 | 45–54 | 55–64 | 65–74 | 75–79 | 80-84 | 85-89 | 90+
Bruno Engler came to Canada in 1939, the last of the Swiss Mountain guides hired by Canadian Pacific. He was a climber, ski instructor, cinematographer, occasional actor and writer, as well as one of the Canadian Rockies’ great story-tellers and enduring characters.
Engler organized the first Veteran’s Ski Race, an event over which he presided until his death. Bruno’s spirit lives on with a group of his friends who continue to run the race.
There are Ram Award Medals for the first three racers in each age category.
Trophies and medals are awarded for the following categories:
- fastest male and female racers,
- the fastest male and female in the 65+ age category and
- the oldest male and female to race that day.

With your entry fee you get to keep a mounted photograph of yourself on the course.
The awards will be given out at the traditional Swiss-style gourmet dinner at which members of the Heimattreu yodelers from Calgary will be entertaining.
