Making his World Cup debut at Austria’s Schladming course in 2011, the son of Crazy Canuck Ken Reid, Erik, placed fifth at the 2011 world junior ski championships.  In 2012, Read continued to garner attention by winning the overall NorAm cup title, leading to him claiming a place on the World Cup start list for the 2016-17 season.

Within this same season, Read made three personal-best results, making the top 10 on the World Cup circuit in slalom, giant slalom and alpine combined.
