Ability Levels

Skiing

First Time

Never skiied before.

Lesson Focus

Basic skills for slidding, stopping & turning.

Level 2: Once or Twice

Learning how to stop.

Learning to link turns.

Lesson Focus

Go from beginner area to a groomed green run.

Level 3: Green Runner

Able to turn, stop & control speed in beginner area.

Lesson Focus

Gain confidence to safety start explore mountain green runs.

Level 4: Green Progessing to Blue

Able to link turns on green runs.

Lesson Focus

Feel more comfortable on green runs, working towards blues.

Level 5: Blue Runners

Comfortable on most groomed blues.

Exploring moguls on green runs.

Lesson Focus

Develop skills to feel more comfortable on blue runs.

Level 6: Blue to Black Runs 

Comfortable on all groomed blue runs & moguls on green & blue runs.

Lesson Focus

Develop skills to feel more comfortable on groomed black runs.

Level 7: Black Runs & Bumps

Comfortable on all groomed black runs & moguls on blue runs.

Feel more comfortable on steep & variable terrain.

Snowboarding

First Time

Never snowboarded before

Learn the basics: stance, balance, sliding, stopping and your first turns.

Level 2: Once or Twice

Learning how to stop & starting to turn.

Develop edge control & beging linking turns to gain confidence to leave the beginner area.

Level 3: Green Terrain

Can link turns & control speed on green runs.

Lesson Focus

Build confidence & consistency on green runs.

Level 4: Green Progressing to Blue

Comfortable linking turns on green runs; blue runs feel challenging.

Lesson Focus

Improve turn shape & control, introducing dynamic riding to prepare for blue runs.

Level 5: Blue Terrain

Comfortable on most blue runs, starting to explore varied terrain.

Lesson Focus

Refine riding with stronger edge control, better turn timing & tactics for steeper slopes.

 

Level 6: Blue to Black Terrain

Confident on blue runs & exploring black runs

Lesson Focus

Develop dynamic riding skills, including carving, pressure control & tactics for more challenging terrain.

Level 7: Black Terrain & Variable Snow

Comfortable on black runs & riding varied terrain.

Lesson Focus

Refine advanced techniques for steeps, bumps & varible snow.
